Wear Your Seat Belt!

by Council Nedd II

I just returned home from running errands in a nearby town.  Traffic was slow because of the remnants on a car accident.  I glanced over to see what had happened and it was clear that the passenger in the car was not wearing his seatbelt and went partially through the windshield.

seat-beltThree years ago this month my seatbelt saved my life when, while avoiding two deer frolicking in the street around a blind curve, I swerved and flipped over my very cool convertible…

…I’m happy to talk about that car another time… Moving on.

I posted the above picture on my facebook page and my Emirati friends we amazed when I told them that I walked away from that accident.  Befuddled, they were surprised and asked how.  I simply told them that I was wearing my seat belt.

So many lives can be saved, and so many injuries prevented by just wearing your seat belt.  Have a safe weekend.

Throwback Thursday: Rep. Walter Jones

by Council Nedd II

I had a meeting in Washington yesterday afternoon. Since I was in town, I decided to visit a dear friend, and a true man of God, Congressman Walter Jones of North Carolina. He didn’t have a lot of time today, but I was thankful that he made a few moments for me. We chatted about the one thing I wanted to discuss with him (which I may tell you about later). However, as usual, he wanted me to end the meeting in prayer.

Walter-Jones-pngI have never had a meeting with him in his Congressional office that he did not want me to end with prayer. So many verses of scripture come to mind when I think of the witness of Rep. Jones in the U.S. Congress. However, today I am moved to share Hebrews 10:23-25 which, by the way, is in the dedication of my most recent book.

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
