I had a meeting in Washington yesterday afternoon. Since I was in town, I decided to visit a dear friend, and a true man of God, Congressman Walter Jones of North Carolina. He didn’t have a lot of time today, but I was thankful that he made a few moments for me. We chatted about the one thing I wanted to discuss with him (which I may tell you about later). However, as usual, he wanted me to end the meeting in prayer.
I have never had a meeting with him in his Congressional office that he did not want me to end with prayer. So many verses of scripture come to mind when I think of the witness of Rep. Jones in the U.S. Congress. However, today I am moved to share Hebrews 10:23-25 which, by the way, is in the dedication of my most recent book.
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
